The short version: We collect what you give us — like your email and chosen program — plus the basic technical data every website needs to run. We use it to deliver your lessons and send emails you can leave anytime. We don't sell your personal information, full stop. Payments go through payment processors; we never see your full card number. And if you ever want your data corrected or deleted, one email does it.
Part 1 · What we collect & why

01What this policy covers

This policy explains how BetterAt ("we," "us") handles information when you visit betterat.ai, sign up for a free lesson, or enroll in a program (the "Services"). It's the companion to our Terms of Service — the Terms govern the deal, this page governs the data.

02Information we collect

There are three kinds, and it's a short list:

03How we use it

Everything we collect serves one of five purposes: delivering the Services — sending your free lesson, managing enrollment and progress, running assessments and issuing certifications; communicating with you — support replies, transactional messages, and the marketing emails described next; improving the programs — understanding which lessons land and which need work; protecting the Services — preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized content sharing; and meeting legal obligations, like keeping purchase records for tax purposes. That's the whole list — nothing else happens with your data.

04Email communications

When you sign up, you'll get what you asked for — the free lesson — along with our newsletter and occasional offers about our programs. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. The only emails that continue afterward are the essential ones about your purchases and enrollment.

Part 2 · How things work

05Cookies & local storage

The site is deliberately light on tracking. We use browser local storage for practical things — briefly caching the AI news feed so pages load faster, for instance — and our hosting provider may set cookies needed for security and performance. We run no third-party advertising trackers. Embedded content, like YouTube videos, can set its own cookies when you interact with it under the third party's policy; we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced, no-cookie embed mode wherever possible.

06Third-party services

A small set of providers helps us run the Services, and each receives only what its job requires: Cloudflare for hosting, CDN, and security; payment processors for purchases; email delivery providers for lessons and newsletters; Google Fonts for the site's typefaces; and the public content sources behind our "AI Pulse" section — news publishers, YouTube, and aggregation APIs your browser contacts directly, under those services' own policies.

07When we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't hand it to third parties for their marketing. Sharing happens in exactly four situations: with the service providers above; when the law or valid legal process requires it; when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of BetterAt or others; or as part of a business transfer such as a merger — in which case this policy travels with your data.

08Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account or enrollment is active and as long as the purposes above require. Two categories stay longer by design: purchase records, which tax and accounting law obliges us to retain, and certification records, which we keep so your credential stays verifiable. Ask us to delete your data and we'll remove everything we're not legally required to keep.

09Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational precautions: the site is served exclusively over HTTPS, access to systems is limited, and payment data is handled only by our payment processors. We'll also be honest about the limits — no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and no one can truthfully guarantee otherwise.

Part 3 · Your rights & the details

10Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA/CPRA in California — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of marketing. Exercising any of them takes one email to support@betterat.ai; we respond within the time the law requires, and we never treat you differently for asking. For California residents specifically: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as the CPRA defines those terms.

11Children

The Services aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, tell us and we'll delete it.

12International visitors

We're based in the United States and process data there. If you use the Services from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where data-protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction's.

13Changes to this policy

As the Services evolve, this policy will too. The effective date above always reflects the current version, and material changes get posted on the site. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept it.
