01Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and BetterAt ("we," "us") — the operator of betterat.ai and the programs, lessons, and services we offer (together, the "Services").
You accept these Terms by doing any of the things they cover: browsing the site, submitting your email, enrolling in a program, or making a purchase. They work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree with something here, the honest move is simple — don't use the Services.
02Who we are
BetterAt is an independent online academy teaching practical AI skills through three self-paced programs — AI Foundations, AI Builder, and AI for Your Business — capped by an assessment-based certification. We're an education provider, and only that: not a university, not an accredited degree-granting institution, not an employment agency, and not your financial, legal, or career advisor.
03Eligibility
To purchase a program you must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. Learners between 13 and 18 are welcome to use our free materials with a parent or legal guardian's consent and supervision — the guardian accepts these Terms on their behalf. The Services are not directed to children under 13.
04Enrollment & accounts
Enrollment is personal to you. That means three things: the information you give us at signup should be accurate and kept current; your account and course access can't be shared, transferred, or resold; and you're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for whatever happens under your account.
05Payments & no-refund policy
Program prices are shown at checkout. They may change over time, but a change never affects a purchase you've already completed. By purchasing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the payment method you provide.
- you are receiving immediate access to digital content;
- you consent to that immediate access; and
- in accepting it, you waive any right to cancel, withdraw, or receive a refund, in whole or in part.
Not sure a program is right for you? That's exactly what the free lesson is for — take it first, then decide.
If the law where you live grants consumer rights that can't be waived by contract, those rights remain yours — and the policy above applies to the fullest extent the law allows. One more thing worth saying clearly: initiating a chargeback on a purchase you authorized is a violation of these Terms and can end your access immediately.
06Your license to the materials
Enrolling gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to learn from the program materials. It's a license to learn, not to distribute — so you may not copy, record, download (beyond downloads we provide), redistribute, or publish program content; share your access or make materials available to anyone else; resell, sublicense, or build a competing course or product from them; or use them to train machine-learning models or datasets.
07Intellectual property
Everything on the site and in the programs — lessons, videos, text, curricula, project templates, graphics, and the BetterAt name and logo — belongs to BetterAt or its licensors, protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. The flip side is just as clear: the work you create in projects using your own inputs is yours. The underlying course materials remain ours.
08BetterAt certification
Our certification means something because of how it's earned: by passing a hands-on assessment, not by watching videos. A few consequences follow from that. Enrollment doesn't guarantee certification. Assessment standards and formats are set by us and will evolve. Certification can be revoked for cheating, misrepresentation, or violating these Terms. And a certification is a signal of demonstrated skill at the time of assessment — not a professional license, an accredited credential, or a promise of employment.
09Third-party certifications
Some of our training maps to certifications issued by independent organizations — OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Google, NVIDIA, IBM, DeepLearning.AI, CertNexus, and others. Those are entirely their programs: they set the eligibility rules, the exams, and the fees, and their names and marks belong to them. BetterAt is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them, and preparing with us doesn't guarantee you'll pass their exams.
10No guarantees of results
We'll say this as plainly here as we do on the homepage: we don't guarantee outcomes — not jobs, not clients, not revenue, not productivity gains, not exam results. Phrases like "3x your output" describe what the training aims for and what some learners experience; they're goals, not promises. Your results depend on your effort, your skill, your circumstances, and the market. Our company does route client work to top certified graduates when we have it — but that's discretionary, and it isn't a promise of work or income to anyone.
11Acceptable use
Use the Services the way they're intended. That rules out: disrupting or attempting to break the Services; automated scraping (public search indexing excepted); uploading malicious code; harassing other participants or instructors; misrepresenting your identity or your work — including submitting someone else's work for assessment; and any unlawful use, including building harmful AI systems.
12Termination
If you materially violate these Terms — sharing paid content, assessment fraud, chargebacks on authorized purchases, abusive conduct — we can suspend or terminate your access, and consistent with Section 5, no refund follows. You're free to stop using the Services whenever you like; stopping doesn't create a refund either. Sections 5–10 and 13–16 survive termination.
13Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law permits, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that displayed content (including the third-party news and video feeds on the site) is accurate or current. Our educational content is general information, offered in good faith — it is not professional, legal, financial, or career advice.
14Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law permits, BetterAt and its owners, instructors, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from the Services. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15Indemnification
If your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Services creates claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) for BetterAt or its owners, instructors, or affiliates, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from them.
16Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in Maryland — you consent to their jurisdiction. Before anyone files anything, though: contact us first. You agree to attempt a good-faith informal resolution for 30 days before bringing a claim, and in our experience that's where nearly everything gets solved.
17Changes to these Terms
We'll update these Terms as the Services evolve; the effective date above always reflects the current version, and material changes get posted on the site. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept it. One fixed point: changes never retroactively alter the refund policy on a purchase you've already made.
